Reaching out for International Security Officers’ Day

A day in the life of a security officer is often exciting, frequently rewarding, and sometimes quite lonely. Standing on the front lines of businesses and sites around Australia, our colleagues put others first every day. On International Security Officers’ Day, we take the opportunity to put them first instead.

The importance of our security officers is highlighted each year on 24 July, recognising the 24/7 nature of this demanding role. This year, Certis Australia made a special effort to connect with our frontline colleagues and reach out directly to some of our most isolated officers.

Our senior leaders and management staff visited dozens of sites around the country in the lead up to International Security Officers’ Day, personally delivering over 4,000 chocolates and taking the opportunity to get to know their frontline colleagues. The smiles on the faces of these officers were a clear indicator of the joy these visits brought to each and every member of the Certis Australia team. Our senior leaders also commended the team for their commitment to making the world a better place for all.

To ensure no one was left out, some of our Australian Executive Committee (ExCo) members also visited the National Operations Centre in Sydney to meet with our Operations team members and make courtesy well-being calls to officers who faced long shifts alone. These frontline officers work in isolated sites and may not have the opportunity to speak with anyone else throughout their shifts, so these check in calls were a wonderful opportunity for our ExCo members to brighten up their day and get to know them better. One officer mentioned that receiving the well-being call was “a lovely gesture from the business”.

Darryl Prince, Senior Vice President of People and Transformation, counts it as a privilege to celebrate the day with exceptional security officers from some of our largest client sites in Sydney. He said, “Thanks team – your efforts do not go unnoticed and are truly appreciated as you make our city safer, smarter and better!”

To all Certis Security Officers and all our colleagues across the industry: thank you for all that you do, each and every day.
