Zahed Zulkeplee has been with Certis for 14 years. His wealth of experience in security services, coupled with his strong leadership skills, gave Zahed the opportunity to lead a team of professionals in two different countries over the course of his career.
Today, the assistant vice-president is the head of airport division in GSS Certis International (GSSCI), our office in Qatar. He oversees the entire airport operations for GSSCI in Hamad International Airport, which was ranked the third-best airport in the world by Skytrax in 2020.
Zahed said: “This opportunity given by Certis to grow myself and my career in a different country has been a valuable learning experience. Besides adapting to the business environment, I also learnt to leverage my skills and expertise to manage a team and interact with customers from diverse cultures.”
A self-starter, Zahed has helped to broaden GSSCI’s capabilities in airport operations over the last three years. At GSSCI, he manages the fire wardens, taxi queue coordinators and building security officers and this has expanded to include aviation security screening and foreign objects and debris removal.
Before embarking on his journey to Qatar, Zahed was a Commanding Officer for Certis CISCO Auxiliary Police Force. During his tenure as Commanding Officer, his team was awarded the Commissioner of Police Team Award by the Singapore Police Force in 2014.
Apart from operations in the airport, GSS Certis International also provides physical guarding services, car parking traffic management and security concierge services.
With the evolving COVID-19 situation in Qatar, Zahed ensures that airport operations continue to run smoothly with safety precautions in place while also looking after the well-being of his colleagues.
